More Than 550,000 Dishwashers Are Being Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Originally published at The Hearty Soul

More than 550,000 dishwasher models were voluntarily recalled on October 19th, 2017 due to a safety issue with the power cord. A manufacturing defect has caused the power cord to be a fire risk; to date 5 house fires have been reported.

The dishwasher models were manufactured within a large time frame: between September 2012 and January 2015. If you have purchased a dishwasher between now and 2012, check the serial number to see if your dishwasher is included in the recall.

How to Find Your Serial Number on Your Dishwasher

Open your dishwasher door to identify your model # and serial #. This will be located at the very top or along one of the sides, as illustrated above.

Your model number is the 10 digit string of letters and numbers and the following two digits (eg. SPE5ES55UC / 04). Your serial number is the 4 digit string of numbers following “FD” (eg. 9307). Your production code number is the 5 digit string of numbers adjacent to your serial number (eg. 00153).
